ABOUT

Zubaan has been commissioning research, articles, and more, as part of our work with young researchers from marginalized communities, with a particular focus on Northeast India. Since 2018, we have worked with 150+ researchers, writers, journalists, artists, photographers and more, to document oral histories, food cultures, music, disability and inclusions, working on themes under our focus on gender and cultural/knowledge production, violence, labour and history. We have commissioned more than 150 researchers to document through the Zubaan-Sasakawa Peace Foundation Grants for Young Researchers (2018-2025). In addition, we also have the Zubaan-Sasakawa Peace Foundation Grants for Journalists from the Northeast (2020), under which, we commissioned 31 essays during 2020-21. We hope to continue working with our partners and supporters and enable more community grounded research which can be accessible and available to a larger audience. We invite you to read, share and comment on these essays, which focus on various themes, through a gendered lens, highlighting stories from diverse backgrounds across the region.
